My dream always involved helping the less fortunate. As Luck would have it, I have suddenly become needier than I imagine the public I had hoped to help should ever be, so I would rather pretend I realized it, than give up to strife and depression. Hey, anytime you get down in life people tell you not to take it so hard, and believe it will work out. Well, I've been there and done that, but thanks for the sentiment, therefore if you're rolling up your eyes at the diatribe, just know that you are not one of the people I'm talking about, and you probably would have bailed out on someone like me, ran for the hills and gossiped about how little you really know them and waited with a big bucket of popcorn for the show. So for the the righteous good listening good willed people out there, for those who believe in a God or at least believe in people, here is me trying not to be the Debbie Downer that I feel like on Facebook (wink). Sooooo....
I would like to start and provide a general explanation of my vision:
First of all I dedicated the idea for the name to the beloved women I heard about, lived with and most importantly were ADMIRED and adored during their life. Their stories combined with my life experiences made the connection a no-brainer, coincidentally yet ironically, after it hit me so quickly like lightning, I was immediately inspired, which is what I hope it does for the site, ultimately for you whether you have a need, want to volunteer/donate your service, present goods or money, I wanted immediate inspirateion. For me the name inspired me in that it came to me so quickly after feeling wishy-washy about attempting such a thing, and it was quite a unique sign.
A-(my Paternal Grandfather's mom)
D-(my Tia Fila-I wanted her so now I have a story as to why the D represents my Tia Fila)
M-(my Mother-in-law)
Irma(my Mommy)
R-(my Paternal Grandma)
E-(my Maternal Grandmother)
1st: provide an internet location where people can share current issues they feel are unjust.
2nd: from that site, proved internet resources for services collected through partnerships via internet links, online-training even online-schooling .
3rd: Include in the site information surrounding causes inspired by the web-group and web-administrators, and provide immediate web-access for contributions including but not limited to: cash donations, support by purchasing products, donating pre-written grants, donating time/service(s) (i.e. trainings, lectures, presentations or classes either at sponsored local events or on-line).
it
4th: Build capital for purchasing tangible items for local families and schools to supplement supplies needed ranging from pampers and wipes to tablets and software.
Eventually, I would hope to rent out a building and turning it into my definition of what a "Language Center" would be. It would house a child-care center (short-term), a computer-lab, a Counseling Center for Spanish speakers providing: Marriage Counseling, Healthy-Holistic Living Counselling, an Education Center providing ESL classes and intense High School level tutoring for students at-risk of not graduating, a trade-school skills center for young adults that don't want to go to college, and a non-traditional College Preparation Center for English Language Learners, all this in one place is what my vision of a true Language Center should be.
Hey, that's why they call it a Dream...don't steal it or tell me all the million places like it...just think of it more like a tiny replica Roll's Royce or Ferrari in pristine condition that's been sitting on a kids shelf for twenty some odd years...it's just for show...and the kid inside still looks at it every night before bed wondering if the Fairy Godmother might just poof out of the sky...or at this point for me...it's Kelly La Brock from "Wierd Science" Buuuuunnnngggg!
